Midnight in Chicago
It's midnight in Chicago
my room is dark and the moon hangs low
shadows dance upon the streetlights
I close my eyes, but I just can't sleep tonight
a cool breeze whispers through the window
It's midnight in Chicago.
It's 2 a.m. Chicago time
my mind races to complete this rhyme
wide awake, I light a cigarette
the past invades as I try to forget
I'm sitting alone and all should be fine
It's 2 a.m. Chicago time.
It's 4 a.m. in Chicagoland
dawn extends an awakened hand
the stars fade as the night says good-bye
my pillow soaked from the tears I've cried
struggling to find my way through this wasteland
It's 4 a.m. in Chicagoland.
It's morning in Chicago
my room is still as the sunlight glows
I couldn't survive the lonely night
with all hope gone, I ended my life.
The call will come and you too will know
It's morning in Chicago.
