Happy Anniversary

Ten years ago today
we both said "I Do"
I remember the butterflies
walking the aisle to you.

I wish I had a crystal ball
to tell me of my life
If I knew the future then
I would not be your wife.

You didn't keep the promises
made within your heart
especially the vow
"till death do we part".

As the years went by,
our lives took different directions
even though you promised a life
filled with "love and affection."

I dealt with the loneliness
from our lack of time together
and accepted the vow I took
to be with you forever.

Ignoring all the warning signs
I lived in a fantasy
you must have missed the vow
to be faithful only to me.

Imagine my surprise
when her husband called me
to tell of your affair
that I was to blind to see.

To "love, honor and cherish"
just words in the wind
ten years older and much wiser
a new life I begin.
