There is nothing better than to curl up with a good book. I have loved to read ever since I can remember. I enjoy reading various types of books, but my favorite types of books are mysteries and legal thrillers. I love to be kept guessing and enjoy all of the wonderful twists and turns in the plot.
Below is a list of books on my own bookshelf that I have enjoyed reading and wanted to share with you.
If you would like to recommend a book, please let me know, as I am always looking for something new to read!
- She's Come Undone, by Wally Lamb: This was a great book and it was featured on Oprah's Book Club some time ago. The story centers around the life of Dolores Price from the time when she was 4 years old (in the 1950's) with the introduction of television into her home, and follows her journey through life into her 40's. This is the first novel I read by Wally Lamb and will be sure to look for more of his books.
- Final Justice, by Nancy Kopp: I'm strolling along in Border's looking for a new book and came across this author. Final Justice is an excellent book for those of you who like mysteries and legal thrillers, like I do, which centers around attorney Ann Monroe and a highly publicized and "controversial" trial... great twists and turns! She has written quite a few books and one by one, I hope to read all of them. You can visit her website at www.nancykopp.com.
- A Painted House, by John Grisham: I have read every John Grisham legal thriller I could get my hands on. This book is the first I have read that is not his usual "legal thriller" and it was quite impressive! This story centers around seven year old Luke and his family during the cotton picking season in Arkansas in the fall of 1952. Mysteries, secrets, lies, murder, and paint make this a great read!
- Blind Trust, by Nancy Kopp: I was so happy that this book was finally published, as Nancy has become one of my favorite writers! Mystery, deception and murder make this a great legal mystery story set in the Windy City! I finished this book in one night... I couldn't put it down.
- Skipping Christmas, by John Grisham: This is now the second book that I have read from John Grisham that is not a legal thriller. I read this a few weeks before Christmas and it definitely put me in the Christmas mood. Even though I thought the plot was pretty predictable, this story had very likeable characters, humor and... Frosty! A fun read for the Holidays!
- Diary of a Mad Bride, by Laura Wolf: This is an excellent book, written in the form of a diary about... you guessed it... a bride planning her wedding. I read this book prior to my own wedding... it had me rolling on the floor laughing. I could understand and relate to so much of what this bride was going through... a definite must read for anyone planning a wedding!!
