I was the type of person who never shared my poetry with anyone, as it was very personal to me, until a friend of mine read some of my poems and suggested the possibility of sharing my poetry with others. A few years later, I decided to do just that, and with the help of Jeff, Wet Dreams Poetry was born.
There have been many changes to this site over the last few years. Wet Dreams Poetry was first launched on a Geocities free server in early 2001. Then, in early 2002, I purchased my own domain and the site was redesigned and hand-coded in HTML using frames. Late 2002, this site was again redesigned and hand-coded in basic PHP using tables so we could eliminate the frameset. And, now, in early 2005, this site has undergone another transformation, again using PHP although more advanced, as well as CSS for style and positioning, now eliminating the majority of TABLE use, and giving the site a cleaner look. As I have now learned more about HTML, we were able to design this site to be both CSS, as well as HTML compliant with W3C validation.

Version 2
Just like bringing new life to a room in your house, it was time to give Wet Dreams Poetry a facelift... change is good! Jeff and I built this site together, as with the two previous versions, and I am amazed at how far I have come considering that when I first entered the world of websites and computers, I knew absolutely nothing about HTML, except that they were four letters of the alphabet.
The current version of Wet Dreams Poetry is designed to look best at resolutions
higher than 800 x 600. I believe that originally 800 x 600 was set up for a 15-inch monitor but, today a 17-inch monitor is pretty common and is best viewed with a resolution of 1024 x 768. In any event, you should not find any scroll bars on this site at an 800 x 600 resolution and since computer technology advances so quickly, my 17-inch monitor will probably be "out of date" within the next six months!
All of the links within my site will open in the same window. This is not due to bad coding or poor design and those external links are targeted correctly... This is a choice I made, as the web designer, for several reasons and/or problems someone may encounter when external links are opened in a new window: When you click on an external link that opens in a new window, you do not know what will happen... Will that link cause your browser to open as full screen? Will it open the window with no controls leaving you no way to see the URL, view the status bar or use your back button? Will it spawn multiple windows, in different sizes, confusing you? And, multiple instances of the browser use more computer resources and memory. I have not read anywhere that external links
must open in a new window to be considered coded correctly. Apparently, I am not the only one who feels this way either... there are different articles and debates I have come across on this very subject, a few of which include accessibility issues:
Jakob Neilsen Alertbox,
Don't let your web site fall out of the window,
Beware of opening links in a new window,
New Browser Windows,
and
Opening Links in a New Window,
Dive into Accessibility,
Opening a Link in New Window-Accessibility Issues-W3C Forum. So if any of my visitors feel as I do, you can be comfortable around my site knowing that the external links will not open in a new window.
We are currently striving to decrease bandwidth use by optimizing the images and streamlining our code. The use of CSS and PHP allows us to maintain a uniform look to all pages.
A very special thank you to Jeff, for all your hard work and ideas in helping me design this site, and for being my sounding board to bounce ideas off of and mostly for your love. Without you, none of this would be possible.
This site will continue to grow and change as new poetry and ideas arise.
Wet Dreams
You are so beautiful. I want to be with you.
To feel your warm skin. To hold you close to me.
Cautiously, I test the waters with a touch,
watching you closely to see your reactions.
You seem at ease with me.
A smile on your face eases my tension.
I am ready. I hope you are as well.
Then I enter,
fearful that you will pull away and leave me helpless.
But instead, you seem pleased.
My hand reaches out for you, and you accept it.
Letting me caress your skin. Soft and warm as I expected.
With my arms around you, I don't want to let go.
You take me far as I ride you. Far from the safety of any shore.
Thinking I've gone too far, I ease my grip, almost losing you.
But you do not leave me.
Instead, you slowly bring us back.
Savoring this moment of pleasure between us.
When it was over you turned, looking back at me still smiling.
Like an invitation to return someday. An invitation I will never forget.
I dream of you often. And I will return someday.
For there is nothing more beautiful
than swimming with the dolphins.
