Our Dogs!

I am originally from New Jersey and relocated to the mid-west several years ago. When I first moved out here, the biggest culture shock to my system was the food...very different from the East Coast! However, my taste buds have now adjusted... although I still get cravings for a taylor ham, egg and cheese sandwich... which is unheard of out here and no where to be found!! And, yes, there is nothing quite like a Chicago Stuffed Pizza, but sometimes you just need a greasy New York pizza! After all these years, I still have most of my Jersey accent, but it is beginning to fade... my husband says I still "tawk" like a Jersey Girl, but now with a mid-west type of twang. I guess I must sound pretty funny to the locals. I am a legal assistant/paralegal and have been in this line of work for almost 20 years... and can be grouped into the category of one of those rare people who love their job! I am married and my husband and I share our lives with our two wonderful fur-babies, a Beagle and a German Shepard... and they keep us pretty busy!

The area of New Jersey where I grew up has become pretty famous over the last few years! It's become the "home" of The Sopranos. I know where every location is in the opening credits and often recognize the area of their "location" shots. Watching it each week is sort of like "going home" for me... I never miss an episode. We took this photo of Pizzaland, located in North Arlington, New Jersey, and shown in the opening credits. It's a pretty big kick for me to see my hometown area on T.V. and, yes, their pizza is very good!!

I began writing poetry as a teenager and mostly wrote about my broken heart. I stopped writing in 1990 when I lost my muse, so to speak, and just couldn't find the words. Nine years later, I started writing again and I haven't stopped! I think my writing has improved over the years and like most poets, I am always looking to improve and learn. I write to express my feelings and I really try to "capture" a moment with my poetry.
